Richard J. Doyle has extensive experience in defending all types of criminal cases. In addition, Richard J. Doyle has extensive experience in trial on a number of death penalty level cases, as well as numerous felony cases of every nature from drug related to domestic based. In recent years cases of notoriety included People v. Kruger in which Richard J. Doyle defended the case together resulting in an acquittal of murder and home invasion charges. Mr. Doyle defended the case of People v. Johnson resulting in a Not Guilty of murder and obstruction of justice based on Battered Women Syndrome defense.
Also, Mr. Doyle represented the highly publicized case of People v. Blaylock resulting in a hung jury on the murder charge which resulted in multiple appeals all the way up to the Illinois Supreme Court.
At the time of this writing, no client represented by any member of the firm, despite the fact the State asked for and demanded the death penalty, has received a death penalty verdict. In fact, no case which Richard J. Doyle has tried to verdict has resulted in a guilty verdict of murder.
Richard J. Doyle, has also personally successfully prosecuted numerous murder (two high profile examples are: People v. Driver and People v. Dumas) and serious felony cases while serving as the elected States Attorneys of Vermilion County from 1972-1976. He has endeavored to provide the same high intensity defense to those accused since returning to private practice in 1976.
