Annette Smith, Paralegal
Mrs. Smith is a graduate of North Montgomery High School in Crawfordsville, Indiana. After graduation, Mrs. Smith became a volunteer firefighter specializing in extrication, confined space rescue, rope rescue, and was a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician. She attended Home Hospital’s School of Emergency Medicine and attained an EMT certification, an Intermediate EMT certification and completed her Paramedic training with honors, becoming a Nationally Registered Paramedic, in both Indiana and Illinois. Mrs. Smith began her emergency medical career at STAR Ambulance Service in Crawfordsville, later going to work for Tippecanoe Emergency Ambulance Service in Lafayette, Indiana.
While employed as a Paramedic, Mrs. Smith taught Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, International Trauma Life Support, and was a shift supervisor as a Senior Paramedic overseeing the efforts of multiple ALS ambulances covering over 530 square miles. Mrs. Smith has extensive experience coordinating multiple agencies during mass casualty incidents.
During the Gulf War, Mrs. Smith served in the United States Navy Reserves as a Corpsman. She was assigned to a Field Hospital Unit, and the 4th Marine Division, serving on the USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) during the Persian Gulf War off the shores of Saudi Arabia near Khafji. While deployed she served in Casualty Reception, better known as the Emergency Room in the civilian domain. Ms. Wiegand was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for her service, which was noted to be above and beyond the call of duty.
Following a desire to serve in the legal realm, in 2011 Mrs. Smith made the decision to return to College and pursue a degree as a Paralegal. She attended Ivy Tech College in Lafayette Indiana. While a student, Mrs. Smith was on the Dean’s list, served as the President of the Paralegal Society and as a Student Government Senator, graduating in December of 2015. She interned at Indiana Legal Services and was office manager for the Hall-Justice Law Firm through April of 2016.
Mrs. Smith joined the Doyle Law Team in May of 2016 lending her experience to representing plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from crash or medical malpractice. With well over 20 years of experience in emergency medicine and a degree as a Paralegal, she lends unique insight to our client’s cases.
